Creative Secrets in Rockton Roscoe South Beloit

I am glad you could stop by and I hope you stay awhile to discover the creative secrets in Rockton, Roscoe, South Beloit. We are the towns at the Top of Illinois.

Rock River In Rockton facing West

In a hurried world we sometimes miss what is before our eyes. We run off to exotic places and come home to our towns and re enter the Rat Race.

Why Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit? Like a fine tapestry they are an interwoven part of my life. My name is Ruth and I was born in Beloit, Wisconsin (no hospital in Roscoe) and was brought home to Roscoe. My father Robert Goebel worked for Ideal Concrete in South Beloit where I rode in my first Cement Mixer Truck. In those days you see the companies allowed the children to come to work with their parents without fear of lawsuits. He poured some of the foundations for the Beloit College. My Dad thought anything new was exciting and I suppose I have picked up some of my curiosity from him. He was a caring and gentle man and a little gruff at times. My Mother Lucille Cory Goebel taught me that reading was an important part of life as you can explore places in another Continent. She believed lack of funds should not keep you from traveling. My Mother was also one of my Sunday School Teachers and taught me that our neighbors were not people next door but even across the seas. I hope to bring Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit to you no matter where you reside.

My oldest sister Barbara married Chuck Stockwell and his parents owned Rockton Meat Lockers in downtown Rockton. Their house was next door. As a young girl I went to every shop in Rockton. I now reside in Rockton a couple of blocks from the downtown.

I have now been fortunate to have traveled over to Europe and many places in the United States. My husband, Hans Bruegger (not Brueggers Bagels) is from Grindelwald Switzerland and when the Whiners travel I will take you to my adopted town also.

Oh, did I say the Whiners travel? The Whiners is one of the secrets of Rockton. I will be introducing you to the secret part of the towns. The sights, the smells and the sounds and last but not least the People who are proud, independent and strong. Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit are now Yours to Explore no matter where you are.

Warning this journey is not for the faint of heart!
